Beyond The May 2015 Employment Numbers

· Indiana’s unemployment rate decrease of -0.3% to 5.1% led the nation in May.

· Indiana’s unemployment rate decrease of -3.3% since January 2013, and -5.7% since July 2009 both rank 3rd in the nation.

· The Hoosier labor force has grown by 64,043 individuals since January 2013, which ranks 2nd in the Midwest.

· Indiana’s labor force participation rate has outperformed the national average for 20 months in a row.

· Indiana added the 12th most Private Sector jobs in the US in May (+9,700).

· Indiana’s Private Sector has grown 29,400 jobs in 2015, which ranks 11th in the US.

· Since July 2009, Indiana has added 289,100 Private Sector jobs, which ranks 12th in the nation, at a rate of 12.4%, which ranks 13th in the nation.

· Indiana is now just 300 Private Sector jobs below the all-time peak of employment, which occurred in March of 2000.

· The Hoosier State has added the 2nd most Manufacturing jobs (+91,700) in the U.S. since July 2009, at a rate that ranks 2nd in the nation (+21.1%).

· The Hoosier State has grown the 3rd most Manufacturing jobs in the U.S. over the past year (+14,200), and is 7th in the nation in rate of growth (+2.8%).

· Indiana continues to have the highest concentration of private sector Manufacturing jobs in the U.S.

· Over the past year Indiana ranks 5th in the nation in Trade, Transportation, & Utilities growth (+25,000), at a rate of 4.4%, which ranks 2nd in the nation.
