Bishop Luers High School Attending IHSAA Leadership Conference

On June 23, Bishop Luers High School will send Aspen Hill, Joe Parnin, Jackie Savieo, Kennedy Brough, Olivia Koob, James Sturm, Christian Ulman, Grace Everett, Emma Eckert, Carolina Garcia, Megan Gilpin, Jordan Turpchinoff, and Emily McManus to the 12th annual Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Student Leadership Conference at Plainfield High School. These individuals were nominated by their head coach with approval from the Athletic Director and Principal.

While at the Student Leadership Conference, individuals will have the opportunity to hear from more than 40 speakers on topics such as leadership, sportsmanship, commitment, and team building.

This year we would like to again place the spotlight on sportsmanship. Conference speakers will focus on how to create a culture of good sportsmanship in our school. Schools will be invited to share ideas with the rest of the membership, with the goal being that everyone can work toward developing an environment where good sportsmanship is an expectation, not just an ideal.

Our student-athletes will interact with fellow athletes from across the state of Indiana. These types of events allow our student-athletes to develop relationships with athletes both on and off the field. Student-athletes are then able to bring back this new found information to share with their teammates.

More than 1000 students and 110 schools attend this conference every year. A special thank you goes out to Principal Tiffany Albertson, administration, faculty and the school board of Bishop Luers for their support of all athletic activities. Our student-athletes are looking forward to the trip.
