16 Fort Wayne-area young women to compete at 75th anniversary Miss Indiana competition

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Miss Indiana Scholarship Pageant and beginning this coming Sunday, June 14th, a record-setting 64 outstanding young women from all over Indiana will gather in Zionsville to begin competition for the titles of Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen 2015. Three nights of preliminary competition will culminate in the Miss Indiana Final Competition on Saturday, June 20th starting at 6:00 p.m. and by the end of the evening, both Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen 2015 will be crowned! Tickets are still available for purchase at www.MissIndiana.org . The final night of competition will also be broadcast via webcast for those who can’t make it to Zionsville. Webcast details will be available on the Miss Indiana website and social media.

Fans, friends and family can help ensure that their favorite contestant secures a spot in the Final Competition by voting for her at http://www.missindiana.org/peopleschoice.html to be the Indy Laser People’s Choice Finalist! Only the Top 10 contestants in Miss and Teen, plus the Peoples Choice winners will compete for the titles on Finals Night. Each vote costs $1.00, which benefits Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, as well as the Miss Indiana Scholarship Fund. The generous support of Indy Laser also helps provide scholarships to all the finalists.
Below is a list of Miss (ages 17 – 24) and Teen (ages 13 – 17) contestants who live, go to school or have ties to your area. Also included is information about each of these accomplished and talented young women.

Miss Indiana Contestants:

Lauren Butler, 19, of Kendallville is Miss White River. Lauren attends Ball State University where she studies visual communication and advertising. Her platform is “Miss Representation: The Representation Project,” her talent is character performance and she is a graduate of East Noble High School.
Shelby Carmichael, 23, of Lagrange is Miss Limberlost. Shelby is a graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne where she majored in interpersonal and organizational communications. Her platform is “Start Something Big: Mentorship Through Big Brothers Big Sisters,” her talent is jazz dance and she is a graduate of East Noble High School.
Brianna DeCamp, 21, of Kendallville is Miss Metropolitan. She attends Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she studies special education. Brianna’s platform is “Ray of Hope: Medical Missions,” her talent is tap dance and she is a graduate of East Noble High School.
Morgan Grady, 23, of Fort Wayne is Miss Duneland. She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy with a degree in Performing Arts. Her platform is “The Little Silver Boxes: The Gift of Encouragement” and her talent is Contemporary Dance.
Rachel Klein, 20, of Fort Wayne is Miss South Central. Rachel is a graduate of the University of Saint Francis where she received her masters of organizational leadership. Rachel’s platform is “No Means No: Promoting Education to End Sexual Violence,” her talent is contemporary dance and she is a graduate of Homestead High School.
Taylor Knox, 20, of Auburn is Miss Three Rivers Festival. She is a student at Grand Valley State University in Michigan where she studies political science. Her platform is “Pay it Forward: Mentoring for Life,” her talent is dance and she is a graduate of DeKalb High School.
Karlee Mawhorter, 21, of Columbia City is Miss Kosciusko. She is a student at Ball State University where she studies speech language pathology. Karlee’s platform is “Inspiring Kindergarten Readiness,” her talent is vocal and she is a graduate of Columbia City High School.
Madison Seifert, 20, of Auburn is Miss IPFW. She attends Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne where she studies business management and accounting. Madison’s platform is “Leading the Way: Leader Dogs for the Blind,” her talent is clogging and she is a graduate of DeKalb High School.
Katelin Vogel, 19, of Wabash is Miss Fort Wayne. Katelin attends Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne where she studies psychology. Her platform is “Beautiful Minds: Like a zebra’s stripes, everyone is unique,” her talent is tap dance and she is a graduate of Wabash High School.
Julianna Zehr, 22, of Spencerville is Miss Northeast. She is a student at Indiana Wesleyan University majoring in nursing. Her platform is “Footprints of Faith: Making a Difference One Child at a Time,” her talent is vocal and she is a graduate of Eastside Junior Senior High School.

Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen contestants:

Anna Armstrong, 17 of Angola, is Miss Collegiate South’s Outstanding Teen. A student at Interlochen Academy for the Arts, Anna’s platform is, “Life After High School: College Access & Success” and her talent is musical theatre vocal.
Jordan Elizabeth Axel, 16, of Kendallville, is Miss Collegiate North’s Outstanding Teen. A student at East Noble High School, Jordan’s platform is “Project Limitless” and her talent is tap dance.
Hannah Bullion, 17, of Fort Wayne, is Miss Three Rivers Festival’s Outstanding Teen. A student at Carroll High School, Hannah’s platform is “Hunger in Our Communities” and her talent is tap dance.
Megan Butler, 16, of Kendallville, is Miss Indiana Heartland’s Outstanding Teen. A student at East Noble High School, Megan’s platform is “Say It, Fight It, Cure It: Bringing Awareness to Thyroid Cancer” and her talent is tap dance.
Alyssa Ann Gulick, 17, of Kendallville is Miss Northern Lakes’ Outstanding Teen. A student at East Noble High School, Alyssa’s platform is “Patriotic Pride: Bringing America’s Past, Present and Future Generations Closer To Home” and her talent is vocal.
Victoria Ruble, 17, of Garrett, is Miss Northeast’s Outstanding Teen. A student at Garrett High School, Victoria’s platform is “Volunteerism – Together We Can Make A Difference” and her talent is vocal.
Lydia Tremaine, 17, of Kendallville, is Miss Limberlost’s Outstanding Teen. A student at East Noble High School, Lydia’s platform is “Encouraging Involvement in Performing Arts” and her talent is vocal.
