USF Announces Online Master¹s Degree in Secondary Teaching

The University of Saint Francis is introducing a new program that allows graduates from various bachelor degree disciplines to become licensed as secondary education teachers in over 40 states. The new Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program debuts in fall 2015. It is designed for individuals committed to becoming highly effective middle and high school educators. The program licenses graduates to teach in Indiana, with the option to license in any of the 40+ states with which Indiana holds reciprocal licensing agreements.

Combining an online curriculum with classroom observation and student teaching, the new Master of Arts in Teaching can be completed in less than two years. The program’s cost is approximately half compared to on-campus programs as the majority of its requirements can be met online.

The MAT program has been developed by veteran school-based professionals to provide a realistic and intensive learning experience. While the master’s program is open to teachers who currently hold licenses, it is also designed to allow graduates with nonteaching bachelor’s degrees to bring their subject expertise to the secondary classroom.
