Wednesday, May 27, 2015 — Parkview Field — First Pitch 11:05 a.m. — Game 45

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps swept a doubleheader against the Great Lakes Loons, winning the opener, 4-2, and the finale, 4-3.

ROSTER MOVE: Third baseman Duanel Jones has been promoted by the Padres to Double-A San Antonio. In turn, San Diego has added infielder Nick Vilter to Fort Wayne’s roster from Extended Spring Training. Vilter was previously with the TinCaps from April 14-May 9. As for Jones, he leaves tied for the sixth-best batting average in the MWL (.327), tied for third in home runs (7), and second in runs batted in (36). Jones is also third in slugging percentage (.536).

WALK-OFF #3:
Fort Wayne won in walk-off fashion in the nightcap Tuesday, as second baseman Felipe Blanco tripled to score Franchy Cordero. The TinCaps now have three walk-off wins on the year. Blanco also had a walk-off double against South Bend on April 16.

CALL THE POLICE & THE FIREMAN:
First baseman Trae Santos is on a season-long six-game hitting streak going back to Thursday. He went 1-for-3 in both games of Tuesday’s doubleheader and drove in two runs. With the departure of Jones, he is now the team-leader in RBIs with 22. On the season, Santos is fourth in the MWL in extra-base hits with 19.

GETT-ING IT DONE: Center fielder Michael Gettys doubled twice and plated two runs in the second half of Tuesday’s twin bill. Gettys is now tied with Santos for the team lead in two-baggers with 13. That number also is tied for fifth in the MWL.

HAND CANNON: Catcher Jose Ruiz threw out two base-stealers in the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. He has caught 22 runners trying to steal this season — the highest tally in the MWL. (Bowling Green’s Nick Ciuffo ranks second with 17.)
