Fort Wayne TinCaps (13-25) @ Lansing Lugnuts (24-17)

RHP Ernesto Montas (2-3, 4.38) vs. RHP Jesus Tinoco (0-2, 4.61)

Friday, May 22, 2015 — Cooley Law School Stadium (Lansing, Mich.) — First Pitch 7:05 p.m. — Game 39

ABOUT LAST GAME: In the longest game of the season by both time and innings, the TinCaps won at Lake County, 9-5 in a 14-inning, 4 hour, 9-minute marathon. After Duanel Jones hit a game-tying, pinch-hit, two-run homer in the 9th, Edwin Moreno came through with a two-out, RBI-single in the 14th to give Fort Wayne its first lead of the day. Ruddy Giron then added insurance with a three-run homer, as the TinCaps earned a split in their four-game set.

ROSTER MOVE:
The Padres have placed starter Dinelson Lamet on Fort Wayne’s disabled list (retroactive to Wednesday). In turn, left-handed pitcher Griffin Russell has joined the TinCaps from Extended Spring Training. Russell, 21, was selected by San Diego in the 28th round of the 2012 draft out of Wichita Falls High School in Texas. The 6-foot, 190-pounder pitched in the Arizona League in 2012 and 2013. With Short-Season Eugene last year he posted a 4.97 ERA in 29 IP.

SU2C JERSEY VOTE: The TinCaps and Fifth Third Bank need the help of fans to select which jerseys the team will wear for Stand Up To Cancer Day at Parkview Field on Sunday, Aug. 2. Starting today and ending next Friday at 5:00 p.m., fans can vote for 1 of 3 designs here on TinCaps.com <http://fortwayne.tincaps.milb.com/tickets/form.jsp?formid=jersey_vote&formcode=form&sid=t584&section=team3> . (The jerseys the TinCaps end up wearing will be auctioned off with all proceeds funding cancer research.)

VANMETER BOBBLEHEAD: The TinCaps announced today the team be giving away 2,000 Josh VanMeter bobbleheads on Sunday, Aug. 16 when they host the Cedar Rapids Kernels at 1:05 pm. VanMeter, a top 30 Padres prospect from Ossian, Ind. (15 miles from Parkview Field), is currently on Fort Wayne’s disabled list. He fractured his left fibula while turning a double play against Lansing on April 13 at Parkview Field. ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Fort Wayne is on an 11-game road trip — its longest since May 14-24, 2007. The TinCaps played three at Bowling Green last weekend followed by four at Lake County from Mon-Thu. (Fun Fact: Willie Nelson had a concert in Fort Wayne on Tuesday.)

BULLPEN BOUNCING BACK: Through seven games on this road trip, Fort Wayne’s bullpen has worked 28 2/3 innings and only allowed six earned runs. That equates to a 1.88 ERA and includes nine innings with only one earned run during Thursday’s 14-inning victory. The pen put up 0s for the final six frames. (Through the first 31 games of the year before this stretch, the TinCaps’ bullpen ERA was 4.97.)
