Two USF student-athletes earn CoSIDA award

University of Saint Francis junior Chaise Kahlenbeck has been named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District® College Division Baseball Team, which recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month and in early June.

Kahlenbeck (Fort Wayne, IN / Bishop Dwenger H.S.) played first base for the Cougars this season. He finished with a 3.81 GPA in business administration. He batted .280 for USF, a .380 on-base percentage and played in 49 games with 45 starts. Kahlenbeck had eight multi-hit games, hit safely in 24 games and had three 3-hit games.

University of Saint Francis junior Alyssa Keller has been named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District® College Division Softball Team, which recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month and in early June.

Keller (Decatur, IN / Adams Central H.S.) played first base and DH for the Lady Cougars this season. She finished with a 3.98 GPA in Health & exercise science. She batted .363 for USF, had a .548 slugging percentage led USF in doubles with 17 and posted a .433 on-base percentage in 44 games. Keller finished with 35 career doubles, which ties her with Amanda Minch for fourth on the USF career list. She batted .331 in three seasons for the Lady Cougars. She has graduated and will pursue a master’s degree in the health care field at IUPUI.

USF is in District 2 which includes teams from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee.
