USF Students Win AdFed Competition

For the second consecutive year, a group of graphic design students from the University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts were the winners of “The Pitch” competition presented by the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne. Alejandra Huerta, Alex Zoltek, Ryan Turner, Zak Kittaka and David Leemreis competed against three other graphic design teams from IPFW, Ivy Tech and Indiana Tech.

Each group presented campaign ideas for the not-for-profit Cinema Center to a judging panel comprised of local advertising agency representatives as well as the Cinema Center board of directors.

“The students’ presentation was flawless,” said USF Communication Arts and Graphic Design program director Alan Nauts. “The judges commented that the USF team really understood Cinema Center and their target audience. This was a perfect example of project-based learning as these students came together to achieve a common goal and they really did a fantastic job.”

The winning pitch from the USF team earned the students a $1,000 check which they are planning to donate to support a recently established graphic design award at the university. The award was created by the student team that won last year’s pitch competition.
