The Allen County SPCA is asking Fort Wayne residents to “Fill the Van” this coming weekend as they collect new or gently-used pet supplies to help area animals in need. Saturday and Sunday (April 25-26) from noon until 4PM, area pet owners are asked to donate pet supplies or food for a new program called Pets for Life. Donations will be accepted at the shelter at 4914 S. Hanna Street, at the corner of Hanna and Pettit.
“Pets for Life is an opportunity for all of us to give to animals who need our help just as much as shelter dogs and cats, specifically, pets in homes who don’t have some of their very basic needs met,” said the shelter’s executive director, Jessica Henry. “These animals are beloved members of their families, but each week during our pet food bank, we receive requests for better-fitting collars, dog crates, litter boxes, etc. It’s our hope that we can help keep pet owners and their cherished pets together by launching a program to ensure that underserved animals have access to quality food and supplies.”
The Pets for Life team is looking for donations of:
Cages or crates, Leashes and Collars, Pet Food and Treats (any variety of dry or canned), Pet Shampoo, Flea Preventatives, Pet Bedding, or Misc. Pet Supplies.
Receipts for tax purposes will be given for all donations.
