Racine Talla, newest IPFW basketball signee

IPFW head coach Jon Coffman has announced the signing of Racine Talla to a National Letter of Intent. Talla will have three years of eligibility remaining after spending last season at East Central Junior College.

"We are excited to have Racine Talla join our program," said IPFW head coach Jon Coffman. "Racine is an athletic, versatile forward who can defend multiple positions. His ability to knock down the perimeter shot and put the ball on the floor, coupled with his 6-foot, 9-inch frame makes him a difficult match-up to defend. He excels both on the court and in the classroom, where he is looking to pursue a degree in either civil engineering or mathematics. He will be a tremendous addition to our program and university."

A selection for the 2013-14 Senegalese U19 National Team, Talla spent his first season as a redshirt freshman at USC Upstate before transferring to East Central Junior College in Decatur, Mississippi. While at East Central, he played in just two games before being deemed ineligible due to a state Junior College rule in Mississippi where student-athletes need to be in the United States for four years to compete.

Talla, a native of Dakar, Senegal, played his final season of pre-collegiate basketball at 22 Feet Academy in Southern France. While with 22 Feet Academy, he averaged nine points and eight points per game. He chose IPFW over Sam Houston State, Middle Tennessee State, Cal State Bakersfield, Kennesaw State, Jacksonville State, the Citadel, and Alabama State.

Talla joins guards DeAngelo Stewart, Kason Harrell, and Charles Ruise Jr. as newcomers for the 2015-16 IPFW basketball team.
