122FW UEI_Exercise (UNCLASSIFIED)

Fort Wayne IAP, IN – The 122nd Fighter Wing will hold a Unit Effectiveness Inspection Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2013. The purpose of a UEI is to validate the combat readiness of units and their ability to execute assigned missions and tasks against a defined standard. The UEI also grades the 122nd Fighter Wing’s ability to safely deploy while following the appropriate Air Force and Inspector General Guidance. Additionally, under simulated chemical threat, the Wing inspectors will inject scenarios such as changed Force Protection levels, security breaches, virus threats, conscientious objectors and more.

Media is invited to attend a portion of the exercise, Sunday Nov. 3 at 8:30 a.m., while the unit is in Mission Oriented Protective Posture level-4, to gain an understanding of the level of self-protection necessary to continue to operate in a threatening chemical environment. All media will be treated as non-players while on base and should not be concerned with any specific conditions.

Over the four days of the UEI radio traffic and loud speaker announcements on base will be increased and the base siren will be used. All announcements made will be prefaced by EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE; real-world announcements will be made known as such.

122nd Fighter Wing members will prepare for their upcoming inspection by supporting 12-hour operations over the weekend. During this time, members will prepare aircraft for generation, launch aircraft, prepare pallets, simulate deployment processing and perform ancillary training.

Included in the four-day UEI exercise is the Personnel Deployment Function. The purpose of the PDF is to ensure 122nd members are eligible to deploy. This is a complex process of ensuring mandatory training is accomplished, ensuring members are medically fit to deploy, have their legal requirements met and coordinating timely intelligence or local area briefings. The UEI is different from an Air Expeditionary Force deployment in that inspectors are observing baggage pallets being built, orders being generated and manifests being created.

All media wishing to attend the event, please contact the 122nd Fighter Wing¹s Public Affairs Office as the security procedures are still in place. To attend you will be required to send your Name as it is on your Driver¹s License, Driver¹s License Number and State of Issue to
darin.hubble@ang.af.mil by end of the business day Wednesday October 30, 2013.

For more information, please contact MSgt Darin Hubble, 122d Fighter Wing, Base Public Affairs Superintendent at (260) 478-3314.
