The History Center is offering two historical learning opportunities to the public in the month of February.
Come to the History Center to hear a George R. Mather Lecture presented by Dr. Alfred Brothers Jr. This lecture, titled “The Fort Wayne Colored Giants,” will take place on Sunday, February 4 at 2PM. The George R. Mather Lectures are free and open to the public. “This presentation discusses one of the Black Baseball teams of a bygone era, the Fort Wayne Colored Giants, whose achievements span the era of the Negro Baseball Leagues. This is a journey of discovery into the past history of baseball and its players and managers.”
On February 11, 2018, the History Center is hosting a panel discussion and presentation titled “Factory Families: Allen County’s History as a Manufacturing and Innovation Hub.” This presentation is co-sponsored by the IPFW Helmke Library, IPFW Public History program, Allen County Public Library’s Genealogy Center and the History Center. The presentation and panel discussion will be from 2:00PM to 3:15PM on the 11th, and it is free to public.
