Children’s Coats Giveaway This Thursday

Several Ft. Wayne area children will receive warm winter coats this week and it won’t cost their parents a dime.

They will also spend time singing to seniors at Summit City Nursing and Rehabilitation, which is partnering with Greater Progressive Baptist Church, Meijer’s and Costco to provide the coats. The children are part of Greater Progressive’s after-school program.

The coat giveaway takes place at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22nd at Summit City Nursing and Rehabilitation, located at 2940 N. Clinton Street. Santa will be there to greet the children, and the children will pass out cookies to residents. The event is called “Cookies for Coats.”

“Summit City Nursing and Rehabilitation is a part of this community. We want to make a difference because that’s what caring people do,” said Summit City Executive Director Patrick Ngene. “We are so happy to be a part of this effort.”
