What’s Happening In Neighborhood Programs

As children head back to school, the fall schedule for all Parks & Recreation Department youth centers will begin. Cooper Community Center, Jennings Recreation Center, and Weisser Park Youth Center will have the following hours:

  • July 31-August 14: Noon – 5 pm
  • August 15-September 8: 3 – 6 pm
  • September 11-December 21: 3 – 8 pm

Youth Centers will be open 12 – 5 pm on the following days that Fort Wayne Community Schools are not in session:

  • October 13
  • November 3
  • December 22
  • December 27-29.

Youth Centers will be closed November 24-25 and December 25-26.

Memorial Park Carnival: A “farewell to summer” Fun Day will be held at Memorial Park on July 26, 5 – 7 pm. This last summer carnival of the season will have all the favorite carnival games, but will also include inflatables, pedal carts, free raffles, giveaways, and much more. Admission is free!

Community Unity Nights: You and your family are invited to FREE Community Unity – Family Fun Nights! Drop in for a community dinner, games and prizes for the kids, and a neighborhood safety forum. It’s a great chance for neighbors to gather together to meet, greet and eat…and learn about how our police department is engaging to keep our neighborhoods safe.

August 16, 6 – 8 pm, Weisser Community Center, 802 Eckert St.

August 23, 6 – 8 pm, Jennings Recreation Center, 1330 McCulloch St.

August 30, 6 – 8 pm, Cooper Community Center, 2300 Clinton & Creighton

This free program is hosted by the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department, the Fort Wayne Police Department, Fort Wayne United and B96.9.

Back to School Bash: Weisser Park Youth Center is hosting a Back to School Bash on Saturday, September 9, noon – 3 pm. Stop by for food, music, prizes, book bags, a school supply giveaway, and more.
