Sweet Aviation Open House

Sweet Aviation, a Fort Wayne-based flight school that also offers aircraft rentals and maintenance and is located in Smith Field Airport, is hosting its annual Spring Open House on Saturday, June 3, from 8 to 11 AM.

Free breakfast will be served until 10:30 AM while supplies last. They’ll also have a free bounce house and other kids’ activities, including arts and crafts; discounted airplane and helicopter rides for just $25; distinctive military and service aircraft on display, including a 1950’s military trainer, the T-28 Trojan; ice cream and cotton candy for sale from Carousel Ice Cream; and R.C. model demonstrations from Phil’s Hobby Shop.

Sweet Aviation, which is owned by Sweetwater founder and President Chuck Surack, continues to experience sustained growth, building on the momentum of 2016 that included the completion of an additional 10,000-square-foot hangar. Over the past year, Sweet Aviation has concluded the process to become a Part 141 certified flight school; has boosted staff from 26 to 42 employees; and has bolstered its fleet by adding two additional airplanes and one additional helicopter, for a total of 10 airplanes and two helicopters, all of which are available to rent for

training and trips.

One airplane addition, an American Champion Super Decathlon, gives Sweet Aviation’s customers the ability to do tailwheel and aerobatic training; and the company can now offer both pilots and non-pilots a “thrill ride” – which includes basic and advanced aerobatic maneuvers such as loops, spins, and inverted flight.

The latest addition to the Sweet Aviation fleet is a 2017 Cirrus SR20 G6, which is a brand new, fresh off the line, state-of-the-art five-seater airplane. All three Cirrus airplanes in the Sweet Aviation fleet come with a built-in parachute, a unique feature that provides a sense of safety

and security. Sweet Aviation is a certified Cirrus Aircraft Partner, one of very few authorized Cirrus Service Center and Cirrus Flight Training Center locations in the Midwest.

Sweet Aviation’s Spring Open House, taking place at Smith Field Airport on Saturday, June 3, is free and open to the public of all ages. Smith Field is located at 902 West Ludwig Road, in North Fort Wayne. More information about this event can be found at SweetAviation.com, by calling
