Students at Snider High School and Towles New Tech Middle School are hosting fund-raising events Saturday, May 13, to raise money for local charities.
Towles New Tech students will host Tigers Tackle Cancer, a 1-mile run/walk and kids fun run at Towles Intermediate School, 420 E. Paulding Road. Registration is $5 for the fun run and $10 for the 1-mile event. Packet pick-up begins at 9 a.m. with a presentation and balloon send-off at 9:30. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a memory balloon for $2 the day of the event. The kids fun run will start at 9:45 followed by the 1-mile at 10. Refreshments and entertainment will follow. All proceeds from this first-time event will benefit the Parkview Cancer Institute in care of the Parkview Foundation.
Saturday afternoon, the Snider Biomedical Charity Council is hosting its first Biomedical Bash. From 1-5 p.m. at the Arlington Park Clubhouse, 4630 W. Arlington Park Blvd., attendees can learn more about Snider’s Project Lead the Way Biomedical program, meet students enrolled in the program, participate in science activities and games and join the Be the Match bone marrow registry. In addition, there will be a silent auction from 1-4:30 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to Matthew 25.
Members of the community are welcome to attend both events.
