Women who are working and residing in downtown Fort Wayne, or visiting the city from out of town, now have a convenient place to go to relax, refresh and be pampered. Kamylle’s Spa Bar, located at 122 West Wayne Street, is a one-stop salon that offers a variety of services to help customers maintain a healthful and beautiful appearance.
The new salon was launched this week by owners Kelly Bressler, MSN, NP-C, DNP, and Amy Hurst, MSN, NP, who bring a combined background in medical care, beauty care and weight loss programs to the new business. The 4,200-square-foot salon is located in a building owned by the Macedonian Tribune, just west of Toscani Pizza.
Dr. Bressler says she created the name Kamylle’s by combining her first name (Kelly) with Hurst’s first name (Amy). “Much to my surprise, when I Googled ‘Kamylle’ I discovered that it meant extreme fortune, health and spirituality,” she explains. “I knew I was onto something exciting!”
Virtually any service for maintaining a healthy and attractive appearance will be available at Kamylle’s. Customers can receive a manicure and pedicure, along with Botox/Dysport, dermal fillers, permanent makeup and medical-grade skincare treatments, at the same visit as having their hair styled, makeup applied and receiving a therapeutic massage. The entrepreneurs also operate a professional weight-loss business called Healthy Weight Loss Solutions, and these same weight-loss programs will also be offered at the new spa.
Kamylle’s will be providing beauty care from a healthcare perspective, which is unique to Northeast Indiana, according to Bressler and Hurst, who will be assisted in operating the business by various beauty care professionals. The owners said they hope to empower women through the services offered by their spa and to create community cohesion as a woman-owned business helping women customers. However, they point out that “MEN are definitely more than welcome to imbibe on the services offered by Kamylle’s, as well!
Bressler, who holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, has more than 25 years of experience in the medical field. Hurst, who has worked in the medical field for over 15 years, holds a master’s degree in family practice nursing. The owners’ certifications as nurse practitioners allow them to write prescriptions as needed to complement the weight-loss treatments offered by their facilities.
In the future, the business owners hope to expand their community connectedness by offering therapeutic message for cancer survivors, as well as permanent makeup applications to create the appearance of areolas for breast cancer survivors.
Hours of operation for Kamylle’s Spa Bar are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Appointments can be made by calling 260-399-5874.
Bressler and Hurst are clients of the Northeast Indiana Small Business Development Center, where they received start-up guidance from Business Advisor Scot Goskowicz. To learn more about the Northeast ISBDC, visit www.isbdc.org or call 260-481-0500.
