Two neighboring businesses that are part of northern Fort Wayne’s Amateur Sports Corridor, The X Count and Spiece Fitness, are partnering to improve the competitiveness of local precision rifle athletes. When The X Count moved into its building last year at 5301 Merchandise Road, across the street from the well-known Spiece Fitness facility, staff from Spiece Performance Training began providing, on an informal basis, training and injury remedy to athletes from The X Count’s precision rifle program. Now, this relationship will become formalized, according to the partnering organizations.
“Spiece trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Becky Levi is knowledgeable in the training and fitness of elite athletes. She is aware of the exercise regime of Olympic rifle athletes and will work with athletes from The X Count on stability, flexibility, and core,” according to Diane Rice, vice president of The X Count.
Anne Davis, executive director of Spiece Fitness, notes that Levi has spent many years training and coaching both amateur and professional athletes, and possesses a very strong injury rehabilitation background. “Becky will use this background to assess rifle athletes when strain or injury takes place and refer them for the appropriate treatment while guiding them through their recovery,” she said.
