Wednesday Filltration Plant Tours

In celebration of receiving national recognition for utility excellence, Fort Wayne City Utilities is inviting area residents to free guided tours at our Three Rivers Water Filtration Plant this Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

Tours begin at 2:30 p.m. at the water plant located at 450 Baltes Avenue. The final tour will begin at 5:30 p.m. The walking tour will give visitors an opportunity to see the plant in operation, to interact with staff members, and to enjoy the architecture of the Collegiate Gothic style building.

Last week, the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) honored City Utilities with the Platinum Award for Excellence in Utility Management. Only ten water utilities of the more than 150,000 in the country were awarded the prestigious national recognition.

The award recognizes Fort Wayne’s strength in 10 focus areas: product quality, customer satisfaction, employee and leadership development, operational optimization, financial viability, infrastructure stability, operational resiliency and community sustainability, water resource adequacy and stakeholder understanding and support.

Judges cited Fort Wayne City Utilities’ consistent production of top quality water, continuous organizational improvement, staff training and development, process improvements for customer account management and billing, utility growth, and financial responsibility.
