Girl Scouts Northern Indiana Service Center Marks 10th Anniversary

Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana will mark the 10th anniversary of the Mary Jane McMillen Crowe Leadership and Learning Center with an open house and reception 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 3. The event, which is free and open to the public (over-21 only please), will take place at the center, 10008 Dupont Circle Drive East, easily accessible from Dupont Road or I-69.

Designed by MSKTD & Associates and built by Shawnee Construction in 2006, the two-story, 18,000-square-foot facility serves as offices for day-to-day operations and as a training center for Girl Scout volunteers.

“This building became our headquarters when Girl Scouts of the Limberlost joined with three other councils to form Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana in 2008,” said CEO Sharon Pohly. “We now serve 22 counties in northern Indiana and lower Michigan, which includes more than 6,000 girls and 2,700 volunteers.”

“Our learning center (training room) is open to the public for training and meeting room opportunities,” Pohly continued. “Our program center becomes a Cookie Central from January through March, with cookies leaving the facility daily for girls to sell.”

The anniversary will be celebrated all week long, October 31-November 4, with special treats for daytime visitors and a 10% discount on any purchase in the retail store (some restrictions may apply).
