That didn’t take long. USF quarterback Nick Ferrer earned his USF record sixth Mid-States Football Association Player of the Week honor for his 295 yard, five touchdown game in a 37-6 University of Saint Francis win on Saturday over Taylor University.
Ferrer (Westfield, IN / Westfield H.S.) threw for 295 yards on 22-for-33 (1 INT) passing and touchdowns of 4, 11, 18, 21 and 11 yards against the Trojans. Ferrer’s sixth selection broke a tie at five POTWs with former USF QBs Jeremy Hibbeln (1998-01) and Chris Bramell (2002-05) for most USF POTW honors.
Ferrer became the 31st quarterback to pass for more than 5,000 career yards in the win over TU. He has 5,256 career yards passing in 24 games, 18 starts at QB.
The junior has won the league honor six times in USF’s last 15 games. USF QBs have earned 16 POTW honors in 19 seasons and USF now has 97 MSFA MEL POTW awards.
