Great Tree Canopy Comeback: Volunteers Needed

On Saturday, October 22nd, Friends of the Parks of Allen County invites citizens to partner with area parks departments, businesses, neighborhoods, and community volunteers to plant new trees in our parks and public spaces during the Great Tree Canopy Comeback.

Volunteers of all ages are critical to the success of the event and are encouraged to sign up and help restore the tree canopy. More than 250 trees will be planted in the following parks this year: Lions, McCormick, Weisser, Salomon Farm, Metea County Park and New Haven Parks’ Community Center.

Volunteers are asked to register in advance by emailing Robin Holley at GTCC15Years or by calling 260-417-3804. T-shirts will be handed out to volunteers who pre-register by September 30, while supply lasts.

BACKGROUND: Created in 2002, the Great Tree Canopy Comeback is our community tree planting day organized by volunteers with Friends of the Parks and area parks departments to combat this critical loss of trees.
