LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps beat the Whitecaps, 2-1, as Marcus Greene Jr. hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth.

WALK-OFF WINNERS: Last night was the seventh walk-off win for the TinCaps this season. See Page 9 for a full list of them. Greene’s long ball was the first walk-off homer for the TinCaps since Franmil Reyes hit one, also against West Michigan, on May 29 last year.

SU2C NIGHT: The TinCaps will wear special jerseys tonight for Stand Up To Cancer Night, presented by Fifth Third Bank. The jerseys are being auctioned off online at TinCapsJersey.com with all proceeds being donated to Stand Up To Cancer, a national organization dedicated to pooling resources to fund cancer research and better treatment options for cancer patients. For every strikeout a TinCaps pitcher records tonight, Fifth Third is donating $530 to SU2C. Also, for every social media post that uses the hashtag “#howifight,” Fifth Third is donating $1 to the cause. Fifth Third has partnered with SU2C since 2013 and has donated more than $6.5 million in that time frame.

SAN DIEGO BRASS IN TOWN: As he was last night, Padres General Manager A.J. Preller is at Parkview Field tonight. It’s his first visit to Fort Wayne since joining San Diego’s front office on Aug. 5, 2014. Sam Geaney, Director of Player Development, and Mark Conner, Director of Amateur Scouting, will also be in attendance.

PACKED PARKVIEW FIELD: The TinCaps have averaged 6,064 fans per game this season, which is on track to set a franchise record. Fort Wayne’s attendance ranks 2nd out of 100 Single-A/Rookie clubs and is higher than 27 of 30 Double-A franchises and 13 of 30 Triple-A organizations.

ROSTER MOVES: The Padres have placed outfielder Rod Boykin on the TinCaps’ Disabled List with a back injury. Filling his roster spot is another outfielder, Taylor Kohlwey, who was transferred from High-A Lake Elsinore. Kohlwey was drafted by San Diego in the 22nd round in June out of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He hit .220 with a .324 on-base for Short Season-A Tri-City before moving to Lake Elsinore, where he was batting .302/.351 through 13 games.

ALLEN RETURNS: Catcher Austin Allen is in the lineup tonight for the first time since Monday at Great Lakes. Allen’s .309 batting average on the season ranks eighth in the MWL. He was actually supposed to start last night but was scratched from the lineup in favor of Greene, who wound up hitting the walk-off homer.

RUNS AT A PREMIUM: The TinCaps have gone 15 consecutive games without scoring more than 3 runs in a game. In fact, they’ve only scored 3 runs once during this stretch. Fort Wayne is 4-11 over this time, with a total of 19 runs scored (1.3 runs per game).
