LHP Jerry Keel (3-4, 1.23) vs. LHP Matt Hall (7-0, 0.65)

Monday, June 13 — Parkview Field — First Pitch 7:05 p.m. — Game 64

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON: The TinCaps pounded out 17 hits (one shy of a season high) and dropped the Dayton Dragons, 7-3, in the finale Sunday afternoon in Ohio. Michael Gettys (3-for-5), Austin Allen (3-for-5, 2 RBIs), A.J. Kennedy (4-for-5) and Peter Van Gansen (3-for-5, RBI) powered the offense. J.C. Cosme tossed six innings of two-run ball.

THE GREAT GETTYS: Michael Gettys is riding a 7-game hitting streak and has recorded a hit in 10 of his last 11 games. The All-Star centerfielder went 13-for-22 (.591) over the 6-game road trip, is hitting .432 (19-for-44) in June and now boasts a season-high .322 average.

CALLING ON KEEL: TinCaps LHP Jerry Keel is making his first professional start tonight. The Cal State Northridge product has not allowed an earned run over his last nine appearances dating back to May 3. Over four years pitching for the Matadors, Keel logged a program-high 370.1 innings pitched and had a career 2.75 ERA (eighth all-time).

PLAYOFF PUSH: With 7 games remaining in the first half, the TinCaps are 2.5 games behind first-place South Bend, 2.0 games behind second-place Lake County for the wild card spot and 1.5 games behind third-place West Michigan. South Bend (Dayton) and Lake County (Bowling Green) are on the road to begin the week.

TIDWELL TURNS UP: Kodie Tidwell is on an 23-game on-base streak going back to May 13. It’s the longest such streak of the season for a TinCap and the longest active streak in the Midwest League. He’s hit safely in 21 of those games. Over this time, Tidwell has slashed .283/.359/.446 with 14 runs, 9 RBIs, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs and 10 walks. He’s raised his batting average 58 points and his on-base percentage 51 points to .236 and .319, respectively. Tidwell has DH-ed, played 2B, 3B, SS, and LF over this time.
