Proceeds will benefit the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, which funds research at the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. According to breastcancer.org, about 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. An estimated 246,000-plus new cases will be diagnosed this year, plus another 2,600 cases in men.
PAT McAFEE: Colts punter Pat McAfee is scheduled to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before tonight’s game. McAfee is in town for a stand-up comedy show across the street on Friday night at the Embassy Theatre . McAfee, 29, was drafted by the Colts in 2009 out of West Virginia and has been the team’s starting punter ever since. He was named to the AP’s All-Pro team in 2014 and 2015, and also made the Pro Bowl in 2014.
BIG LEAGUER ON DECK: Detroit Tigers pitcher Shane Greene is scheduled to make a rehab start for the West Michigan Whitecaps on Friday night at Parkview Field. Greene, 27, has been on Detroit’s disabled list since April 28 with a blister on his right middle finger. The right-hander made his MLB debut with the Yankees in 2014 and was traded to the Tigers after that season. In 37 career MLB appearances (33 starts), he has a 5.45 ERA. He’ll be the first MLB rehabber at Parkview Field since then-Padres catcher Tim Federowicz last year.
