Each day, Animal Control Dispatchers receive calls and send Fort Wayne Animal Control Officers to citizens and animals in need. Each call, every day, makes a difference and often saves a life.

The second full week of April each year, the National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) celebrates Animal Care & Control Appreciation Week. In addition this year, National Public Safety Telecommunications Week gives us pause to celebrate our dispatchers at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control. Our staff is responsible for the care of over 12-thousand homeless, abused or neglected animals each year and we could not provide that care without the efforts given by everyone.

Amy-Jo Sites says she is proud of the teamwork her staff puts in. “Thank you doesn’t seem like enough when it comes to recognizing the work our staff does. The tireless hours and dedication they put in to be sure each and every animal’s voice is heard is incredible.”

In 2015, with five full-time dispatchers and eleven full-time officers, Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control dispatched and ran over 20-thousand calls for service resulting in 2,942 tickets issued and 929 court cases heard. Between the dispatchers and animal control officers, they were able to return over 2,000 pets back to their owners either in the field or at the shelter.

Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control (FWACC) dispatchers are available Monday-Friday from 9am-8pm by calling 427-1244 Option 1. FWACC officers respond to calls seven days a week from 6am-1am with emergency service response from 2am-6am. An Animal Control Officer can be dispatched before and after our normal call taking hours by calling 260-449-3000.
