Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House To Build Local Community Garden With Support From Scotts Miracle-Grow Grassroots Grant And Bishop Luers HS

Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House announced the addition of a garden at their West Jefferson site which is located on the campus of Lutheran Hospital. The garden is part of The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company’s Gros1000 initiative, designed to create 1,000 gardens and greenspaces throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe by 2018, the Company’s 150th anniversary. The garden will be constructed by Bishop Luers High School Students as part of their Sodalitas Service Projects and the oversight of Dianne Leatherman and Jackie Hoopfer, local master gardeners.

“We are thrilled to receive the grant support for our Hope Grows Garden and Bishop Luers High School. It is our intent to provide support to our families in mind, body and spirit during serious pediatric and neonatal medical emergencies. The better we care for parents, the better they are able to care for their child.” said Andrew Gritzmaker, Executive Director of the non-profit.

Community gardens and public greenspaces play an important role in towns and cities. The Hope Grows Garden will provide fresh produce to families staying at the Children’s Hope House. Through this garden, residents will be encouraged to eat healthier in a cost-effective way for the NFP.
