HU Receives Best Of Festival Award

The Broadcast Education Association has announced that The Gift of Hope film production won Best of Festival for the faculty video category.

The 11-minute narrative story is about an innocent girl who is faced with the threat of being removed from her family by social services, helps cover up the family drug business until her neighbor leads her toward a new perspective on life.

Produced in cooperation with Youth for Christ’s national office, the video was directed by Dr. Lance Clark, DMA department chair and division chair of the School of Arts and produced by Dawn Ford, associate professor of digital media arts. More than fifty HU students served in key production roles.

“To receive this award is a huge honor and really celebrates the professional caliber of work that our faculty and students pour into our productions. Good films really are the result of great stories and this short film has a big heart. I am just honored to have had the opportunity to bring this story to life by working with such an incredible cast and crew,” stated Clark.

The 2016 Best of Festival winners were selected from a pool of over 1,500 entries, representing over 175 colleges and universities. The 18 faculty and student winners will be honored at the 14th Annual BEA Best of Festival King Foundation Awards ceremony in Las Vegas on April 18 as part of BEA’s annual convention.
