"We love partnering with our local PetSmart stores," said shelter executive director, Jessica Henry. "PetSmart is very supportive of animal adoption in general, but this will be a larger-than-usual event featuring as many animal adoptions as we can facilitate in just four hours." For this event, the Allen County SPCA arranged for a special transport from the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin’, which relocates healthy, adoptable dogs and puppies from shelters in southern states where there are fewer adopters. More than 24 canines will be looking for their forever families during the four-hour-long event.

Increased volunteers and staffing have been arranged, and same-day adoptions are possible.

The shelter’s adoption center at 4914 S. Hanna Street will be CLOSED to encourage adopters to attend the Big Adoption Event.

Potential adopters are asked to check the shelter’s Facebook page and website to learn more about which animals will be available at the Big Adoption Event. In addition to several dogs, both large and small, the shelter also will be offering feline adoption. Adoption fees will vary.

This event will take place at the Apple Glen PetSmart only at 1760 Apple Glen Blvd. in Fort Wayne.
