Open House To Preview “Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy”

All the world’s a stage, so you might find it hard to believe that Fort Wayne lacked a school for aspiring thespians. Enter Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy, the newest gem in a revitalized Downtown Fort Wayne. The Academy is the educational wing of the newly formed Three Rivers Music Theatre, whose first production, The Last Five Years, premiers April 1 at the Parkview Physicians Group ArtsLab. Three Rivers Music Theatre and Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy are the longtime dream of Andy Planck, a Fort Wayne native with extensive professional acting credits, who realized the need for an academy in which students could pursue dance, vocal and acting training.

“We teach students ages three to adult,” says Planck. “We aim to be a place where students can work on all aspects of their theatre training if that’s their goal, but if someone wants to drop in for a class for fun or before an audition, we welcome that, too.”

Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy will hold an Open House Saturday, January 16, from 2-5p.m. to show off the academy’s new space, located on the first floor of the Randall Lofts, at 212 Pearl Street.

“Downtown Fort Wayne is thriving, and we’re excited to be a part of that,” says Planck. The Open House will serve as an opportunity to sample class offerings, meet board members and faculty, and register for classes with a waived registration fee. “We can’t wait to give the community a taste of what we’re up to,” Planck says. “It’s unlike anything being done in this region, and it’s long overdue.”

Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy begins its first session Monday, January 18. It will offer ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary/lyrical, and musical theatre dance classes. It will also offer voice lessons, Zumba classes, and acting lessons (both group and private). For more information, and to register for classes, go to www.triplethreatfw.com.
