The Allen County Chapter 187 of AARP will hold its monthly free educational presentation on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Foundation, 555 East Wayne Street, Fort Wayne (corner of Wayne and Monroe).

Sonia Coe, Advocate and Volunteer Coordinator for Ombudsman: Long-Term Care Program of Northeast Indiana will speak on Resident Rights. Sonia will provide some history of the national Ombudsman program, and will elaborate on the rights of residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She will discuss how her organization provides recourse for residents (and their families) who raise concerns over such issues as privacy invasion, proper care, abuse and/or neglect. Sonia will also outline how community members night find volunteer opportunities with the Ombudsman Program. The public is invited and welcome.
