The Rescue Mission To Host Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 26, 2015, The Rescue Mission will host their 32nd annual Thanksgiving meal. Last year, roughly 2500 meals were served to the hungry and homeless on Thanksgiving. This year, The Rescue Mission is expecting a crowd of roughly the same size.

The meal is provided free of charge and open to the public. Meal serving will begin at 12:00pm and will end at 3:00pm. Guests are welcome to dine at The Rescue Mission, but carry out meals are also available. The meal is made possible by donated food items from area individuals and groups, cash donations, and the assistance of more than 250 volunteers. Volunteers and kitchen staff have been preparing turkey and trimmings for over a week and preparation will continue through Wednesday evening. All volunteer positions for the serving of the meal on Thanksgiving day are filled.

The menu will have all the makings of traditional Thanksgiving meal, including 150 turkeys, 700 pounds each of mashed potatoes and green beans, 300 pies and other traditional favorites.
