In honor of "Adopt a Shelter Dog Month," the Allen County SPCA is offering half-off adoption fees for all canines this October. $85 dog adoptions are now just $42.50. Puppies under 5 months of age are adoptable for a mere $50, and senior dogs are now just $25. These special adoption fees are for a limited time only. "We want to do everything in our power to get these animals homes," said Jessica Henry, shelter director. "If special pricing will incentivize adopters, then we’re all for it." The adoption center at 4914 S. Hanna Street is open Tuesday through Friday 11a.m. until 6p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon until 4p.m. and closed Mondays.
All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adopters must complete an application and be approved before taking their new pet home, and an additional charge of $5 for city residents’ annual pet licenses will be added. Adoptions will be offered on a first come first served basis, and same-day adoptions for approved applicants are possible.
