New Venture Competition To Crown Entrepreneurship Champion At Ivy Tech Northeast On Wednesday

The New Venture Competition, in its fifth year, is a business plan contest that will award $35,000 in startup capital to a winning Ivy Tech Community College Northeast student or alumnus entrepreneur based on his or her business plan.

Ivy Tech Community College Northeast students and alumni are eligible to sign up for the summer semester class, Internship: New Venture Competition. Three finalists were chosen from the class to compete for the prize money.

The finalists and their businesses are Guadalupe Callejas, of The Metro Striping and Stenciling Company; Morgan Williams, of Elite Performance Scouting; and Shalonda “Pinky” Saunders, of Sew Pinky. To learn more about the competition, visit IvyTech.edu/northeast/newventure.

At Wednesday’s dinner, more than 50 judges—area business leaders and community professionals—will watch the finalists’ presentations and vote for a winner.

The contest is sponsored by JB Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc., and its owners Dave and Mary Bear; and the Edward M. and Mary McCrea Wilson Foundation. The dinner is sponsored by ProFed Credit Union. The event is in collaboration with Fort Wayne SCORE.
