Pianist Jeoung To Perform At USF

Dr. Jiyoung Jeoung will perform a solo piano recital on Saturday, September 26 at 7 p.m. in the University of Saint Francis North Campus auditorium, 2702 Spring Street. The recital is free and open to the public.

Dr. Jeoung has been a regular performer on Northeast Indiana’s National Public Radio program "Meet the Music" and won the program’s People’s Choice competition for her 2010 performance. In 2011, she made her debut performance at the Weill Recital Hall of New York City’s Carnegie Hall as a first-prize winner in the American Protégé International Piano competition.

She has performed numerous concerts in locations around the world, including the United States, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. While in school, she was voted "Outstanding Graduate Student" by the Ball State University music faculty in 2005, was the second-prize winner at the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale competition in 2004, and received an Honorable Mention at the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano competition in 2005. She performed as a piano soloist with the Manchester Symphony Orchestra in 2012 and New World Concert Orchestra in 2014.

Dr. Jeoung was born in Gwangju, South Korea. She is currently a piano professor at Huntington University and Manchester University. Dr. Jeoung completed her doctoral degree in piano performance and organ performance at Ball State University.
