All area eighth graders are invited to compete for merit scholarships to attend Canterbury High School next fall. The 34th annual Canterbury Scholar Competition will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Canterbury High School – 3210 Smith Road, Fort Wayne, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

As many as 10 students will be named Canterbury Scholars and they will be awarded $8,000 merit scholarships, $2,000 for each of the four years they attend Canterbury High School.

The morning of the Canterbury Scholar Competition, students will take part in a standardized test and write an essay. All participating students and their parents will have the opportunity to schedule a conference to review the results. While the eighth graders are testing, their parents will attend an informational session from 9 to 10:30 a.m. explaining about the school’s college preparatory curriculum. Each participant also will schedule a day to attend classes with a Canterbury freshman and interview with school representatives.
