YWCA Northeast Indiana Announces September Events Open To Our Community!

The public is invited to join YWCA Northeast Indiana throughout the month of September for three exciting and different events

On Thursday, September 17th at 6pm, YWCA Northeast Indiana and IPFW Lafayette Street Family Health Clinic will be screening the Someone You Love documentary at YWCA Northeast Indiana’s Administrative Offices located at 1610 Spy Run Avenue. The Human Papilloma Virus HPV may be the most widespread, misunderstood and potentially dangerous epidemic that most people hardly know anything about, Someone You Love reveals just how dangerous this virus can be, causing six different types of cancers in both men and women. Following five brave women’s stories who are afflicted by HPV and cervical cancer, the film also interviews some of the world’s top experts on the most common sexually transmitted infection in humans: HPV.

Our monthly Diversity Dialogue will take place Wednesday, September 23rd at 12p.m. This month, we will be looking through the history of the women’s equality movement to analyze the impact it has on the society we live in today. YWCA Northeast Indiana Diversity Council will facilitate conversations around the women’s suffrage movement, gaining the right to vote, gender roles, and the media to help participants connect historical events with the lasting impact they still have on our world today. We will engage participants on how we can continue to make strides forward in equality, as a community.

On September 24th at 4:30 p.m. YWCA Northeast Indiana will be hosting our semi-annual What’s New event where members of the community are invited to our Administrative Offices located at 1610 Spy Run Avenue to learn about our programs, resources, recent changes, and enjoy ice cream! This is not a fundraiser, but a time for us to share our story with our friends in the community.

To RSVP for any or all of these events please contact Sue Hiatt at YWCA, or 260-424-4908 ext. 254.
