WBCL Listener Presents Check To Charis House

The first winner of WBCL’s Summer of Giving Contest, Janelle Franks, has chosen Charis House as her charity of choice for the donation portion of her contest winnings. Janelle was awarded $1,000 to give to a nonprofit or ministry organization in addition to a $250 gas card for herself.

Janelle will present the $1,000 check to the Charis House (a ministry of The Rescue Mission) on Wednesday July 29th at 4PM (431 Fairmount Pl, Fort Wayne, IN 46808). In attendance from The Rescue Mission will be Reverend Donovan Coley, CEO; Richard Cummins Chief Development Officer; Toni Lovell, Chief Program Officer; and Laurie Brumbaugh, Major Gifts Officer. This contest has been made possible by WBCL sponsor, Shipshewana Auction and Flea Market.

Janelle chose Charis House because she believes in the ministry and has personally heard testimonies of women whose lives were changed by the ministry. She says, “The Charis House gives women and their children a safe place of refuge to heal and to help them get back on their feet so they’re able to move forward in life through Christ.”

Charis House, a key ministry of The Rescue Mission, is a homeless shelter for women and children in the Fort Wayne community that features restorative programs to help them find jobs and housing, navigate life’s challenges, experience emotional stability and grow in their relationship with Christ.

Two more winners will be selected this summer for the WBCL Summer of Giving Contest. Those winners will also be given $1,000 to donate to their favorite charity courtesy of Shipshewana Auction and Flea Market.
