Byron Health Center Takes Second Place At Three Rivers Festival Bed Race

Byron Health Center participated in the Three Rivers Festival Bed Race for the third time on Wednesday evening, July 15th, and for the second time in the Creativity Division. Hopes originally were high for a winning finish with this year’s entry: DreamSpinners. Unfortunately, the Byron Health Center Bed Race team once again was the runner-up.

Choosing to not go for speed again in 2015, the staff members opted to participate in the Creativity Division. Byron Health Center Director of Nursing Tina Seale spent the last few months designing and creating the DreamSpinners bed to help raise awareness of the many ways Byron Health Center helps both residents and staff create and fulfill their dreams. The magically themed bed was accompanied by several ‘fairies’ and even a ’wizard’ in the parade and race along the Main St route as another 2nd place finish was secured.

“We are so happy to be helping all of our folks achieve their dreams,” stated Seale. “The magical message that DreamSpinners portrayed was two-fold: 1) creating opportunities for our residents to fulfill dreams they may have and 2) showing the importance of helping staff members move forward in their careers. The staff members and their children participating in the bed race represented Byron Health Center magnificently!”

Over fifty Byron Health Center residents and staff members attended the Three Rivers Festival Bed Race to cheer on the Bed Race team. “Our residents are delighted to get out-and-about in the community and attend events like the Three Rivers Festival Bed Race,” said Elizabeth Johnson, Director of Life Enrichment at Byron Health Center. “With having a float in the Parade and team in the Bed Race, Byron Health Center residents and staff have once again thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Three Rivers Festival this year. It’s been a ton of fun!”
