Huntington University’s doctoral program in occupational therapy (OTD) has ranked in some of the top categories posted this year to date by GraduatePrograms.com.

“These rankings reflect very positively as the Huntington University OTD program is compared to many other highly reputable schools,” said Dr. Ruth Ford, director of occupational therapy. “We are blessed with the ongoing success of the program and strive for excellence in all we do.”
Program rankings encompass reviews posted by more than 5,000 OT students participating in over 450 OT programs nationwide. Ratings are based on a 10 star system.
“Any academic program is only as strong as its students and its faculty,” said Ann McPherren, Huntington University vice president for Strategy & Graduate/Adult Programs and Professor of Business and Economics. “Our students, faculty and campus on the site of Parkview Hospital are among the best in the nation and we are gratified for the recognition.”
In addition to rating their respective programs, students often post comments regarding their experiences.
“Huntington University’s Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program has far exceeded my expectations,” said one Huntington University OTD student in a survey. “The program is extremely challenging, however, the faculty is supportive and available to help whenever needed. I would highly recommend anyone interested in an affordable, challenging and excellent education to pursue their occupational therapy degree at HU.”
Established in the fall of 2014, HU’s doctorate program in occupational therapy is one of only 14 such programs in the United States. [Note: The GraduatePrograms.com list encompasses master’s and doctorate programs in occupational therapy.] Huntington University’s 32 occupational therapy students came from across the country and were selected from a highly competitive pool of students.
GraduatePrograms.com reaches current and recent graduate students through scholarship entries, as well as social media platforms. These program rankings cover a period from September 1, 2012 to March 31, 2015. GraduatePrograms.com assigns 15 ranking categories to each graduate program at each graduate school. Rankings cover a variety of student topics such as academic competitiveness, career support, financial aid and quality of network.
For a given graduate program, rankings are determined by calculating the average score for each program based on the 15 ranking categories. These scores are then compared across all ranked schools for that program and are translated into a final ranking for that graduate program, i.e., business and management. A given graduate program is not ranked until a minimum threshold of graduate student surveys is completed for that graduate program.
