Ouabache State Park Reopens, Other DNR Properties Still Affected By Flooding

Ouabache State Park in Bluffton, which was evacuated and closed this past weekend because of flooding, has reopened.

At Salamonie Lake, most campsites are flooded or without power. A few remain open. The swimming beach, all boat ramps, horse trails and all youth tent areas remain closed.

At Mississinewa Lake, the following areas remain closed: campground mooring area and fishing pier, youth tent camping area and fishing pier, swimming area and beach playground and picnic area, and the Francis Slocum, Miami and Pearson’s Mill boat ramps. The Miami campground is open, but the campsites are extremely wet with standing water. Tent camping is not advised, and RV camping is limited. The lake is full of floating debris, making boating treacherous. Visitors must use extreme caution and not drive on roads covered by standing water.

Raccoon Lake’s beach is closed as is its Portland Mills boat ramp. All other facilities are open.

Customers with reservations that are affected at any state park property will be left a phone message with a number to call to transfer to an open site or cancel.

To make reservations at DNR campgrounds, go to camp.IN.gov <http://indianastateparks.reserveamerica.com/> or call 1-866-622-6746. For updates, please check dnr.IN.gov and search for the appropriate property’s name.
