6th Annual South Side Fest To Celebrate City’s South Side

On Saturday, June 27, 2015, The Rescue Mission will partner with area businesses and organizations to participate in Fort Wayne’s 6th Annual South Side Fest.

Last year, The Rescue Mission launched its “Real Change, Not Spare Change” initiative at South Side Fest. The campaign is designed to help the community find ways to help the homeless and others in need without enabling. The goal is to generate awareness about how to encourage true transformation in the lives of neighbors in need.

“Fort Wayne has so many resources. We’re taking a collaborative approach with other agencies and organizations to deal with a very complicated problem. We stand by other community leaders who are working diligently to affect transformation and real change for South Side residents. The spirit of unity and positivity is so important for our community as a whole,” says Rev. Donovan Coley, the Mission’s Chief Executive Officer.

The festival includes a community resource fair, dance competition, family activities, food and music, basketball tournament, car/bike/truck show, and free haircuts for kids. The festival has proven to be a great vehicle for organizations and businesses to distribute information to people in the community who may need their services.

South Side Fest takes place June 27, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Public Safety Academy – Ivy Tech South Campus (7602 Patriot Crossing). The fest attracts a diverse crowd of people from the surrounding area and serves as a celebration of the positive things happening on the city’s south side.
