Operation Lifesaver Teaches Students Railroad Safety

Students at several schools will receive lessons this week from Operation Lifesaver on how to stay safe around railroad property. Operation Lifesaver teaches students about trains and railroad crossings, including reinforcing that it is illegal and unsafe to walk on railroad tracks or use the tracks for recreation. With reductions in transportation coming next school year, many more students will be walking and riding bikes to school. Fort Wayne Community Schools is partnering with many organizations in the community to teach students how to safely travel to and from school. Operation Lifesaver will visit the following schools this week:

  • Waynedale Elementary, 7201 Elzey St. – Monday, June 1, 9:10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Kekionga Middle School, 2929 Engle Road – Monday, June 1, 7:30 a.m.-1:25 p.m.
