Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology (FWMOH) has been recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) as a top cancer-care provider through the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program. The QOPI® Certification Program (QCP™) provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet nationally recognized standards for the highest-quality cancer care. FWMOH is the only practice in the northeast Indiana region to achieve this certification.

“We’re extremely proud to receive this certification from ASCO and QOPI,” says Dan Konow, FWMOH chief executive officer. “This rigorous, multiyear evaluation underscores our commitment to superior cancer care and reassures our patients that they’re receiving treatment from one of the top cancer-care centers in the nation.”

In applying for Certification, FWMOH participated in a voluntary, comprehensive site assessment against clearly specified standards that are consistent with national guidelines and was successful in meeting the standards and objectives of the QOPI Certification Program.

“QOPI provides oncology practices with the information needed to evaluate and continually improve the quality of care they provide for patients,” says ASCO President Peter Paul Yu, M.D., FACP, FASCO. “Since its start in 2010, the QOPI Certification Program allows practices to maintain their commitment to excellence by providing high-quality care for patients with cancer.”

The QOPI® Certification Program (QCP™) was launched in January 2010 and is the first of its kind for oncology practices in the United States. To date, 262 practices in the United States have received QOPI® certification.
