Wednesday, May 20, 2015 — Classic Park (Eastlake, Ohio) — First Pitch 6:30 p.m. — Game 37
ABOUT LAST GAME: With the wind blowing out at Classic Park on Tuesday afternoon, the Lake County Captains hit four home runs and beat the TinCaps, 8-5. All eight of Lake County’s runs were driven in on homers.
DOUBLE DOWN: The TinCaps smacked three more doubles in Tuesday’s game at Classic Park. They’re third in the Midwest League with 71. The two teams in front of Fort Wayne — Lansing and Quad Cities — have played three more games this season. Michael Gettys had two of the three two-baggers.
TAKE TWO: A day after tallying six hits in his TinCaps debut, Ruddy Giron followed up his record setting performance with a solid 1-3 night at the plate. The 18-year-old also drew a walk and scored a run.
216 HOMECOMING: TinCaps Manager Francisco Morales is back in familiar territory. From 2011 to 2013 Morales was the bullpen catcher for the Cleveland Indians. His friend, mentor and former Indiana Manager Manny Acta brought Morales to the ‘Land. Morales also spent the 2013 season working with 2-time World Series Champion and current Indians Manager Terry Francona. On Monday, Morales tweeted, “Back in the 216 area!” In his final season in 2013, the Indians won 92 games and made the post-season, appearing in the one-game wild card playoff against the Rays.
ROSTER MOVE: The Padres transferred LHP Brandon Fry to the TinCaps on Wednesday from Advanced-A Lake Elsinore. In turn, San Diego sent RHP Aaron Cressley back to Extended Spring Training.
LETTERMAN TOP TEN: As Late Show with David Letterman signs off for the final time Wednesday night, the TinCaps have Letterman, an Indiana native, an internship with the team. For “The Top Ten Reasons David Letterman Should Intern with the Fort Wayne TinCaps,”
