ABOUT LAST GAME: The TinCaps rallied for three late runs against the Bowling Green Hot Rods, but fell, 8-3, at Bowling Green Ballpark. Trae Santos provided the offensive spark, bombing his fifth home run of the season in the eighth inning.

SURGING SANTOS: First baseman Trae Santos homered on Sunday for the fourth time over his last seven games. He smacked two last week against the Lake County Captains at Parkview Field and added two more in the Bowling Green series. He now has five on the year, tied for fourth in the Midwest League. In 32 games, the Barrigada, Guam native has already surpassed his total of four long balls from a year ago.

ROSTER MOVE: The Padres transferred OF Henry Charles to Extended Spring Training on Monday and called up INF Ruddy Giron to the TinCaps from Extended. Giron, who was born on Jan. 4, 1997, is now the youngest player in the Midwest League. (The youngest player had been South Bend SS Gleyber Torres, who was born on Dec. 13, 1996.) Giron was signed by the Padres on July 2nd, 2013.

THIS DATE IN TINCAPS HISTORY: On May 18, 2009, former TinCap and current Miami Marlin Mat Latos struck out 8 batters in 6 2/3 shutout innings against the South Bend Silver Hawks. That same day, Latos was called up to Double-A San Antonio. He had a 3-0 record and yielded just one earned run in his 25 1/3 innings pitched in Fort Wayne. Two months after his May 18th start in South Bend, he was making his MLB debut against the Rockies on July 19th.
