TinCaps Fall in Series Opener against Lake County

Four different Fort Wayne hitters had multi-hit nights on Monday, but the Lake County Captains prevailed, 16-5, at Parkview Field.

The TinCaps took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Jose Ruiz singled and drove in Trae Santos.

The Lake County (16-15) offense couldn’t be silenced in the third and fourth innings. The visitors scored 11 combined runs over the two frames, highlighted by a Bobby Bradley three-run homer and a Yu-Cheng Chang two-run double.

Fort Wayne (10-18) cut the deficit to 11-2 in the fifth after Duanel Jones plated a run. Jones – who turned 22 on Monday – finished with three hits and an RBI. He’s driven in nine runs over his last six games.

Bradley and Taylor Murphy homered later in the game for the Captains. They extended their lead to 14-2 in the eighth before the home team responded. Trae Santos smacked his second dinger of the year to cut the score to 14-5.

Lake County added two more in the ninth to make the final score 16-5.

Thomas Dorminy (L, 2-3) picked up the loss for Fort Wayne and Jordan Milbrath (W, 1-4) grabbed the win for the Captains.
