Superior Court Receives Legal Education Opportunity Grant

Allen Superior Court has received a grant from the Indiana Conference for Legal Education Opportunity’s (ICLEO) Gateway to Diversity program.

The one-time grant of $7,500 will cover the cost of an intern who will spend the summer of 2015 working in Allen Superior Court. Allen County was one of only two counties in Indiana, along with Henry County, to receive the grant for 2015.

ICLEO was established to assist Indiana minority, low income, or educationally disadvantaged college graduates in pursuing a law degree and a career in the Indiana legal community.

The summer intern will work under the supervision of Chief Judge Wendy Davis, who also serves on the ICLEO Advisory Committee and on the committee overseeing The Randall T. Shepard Fund for Diversity in the Legal Profession.

“In order for the legal profession to deliver justice for all Hoosiers, its membership needs to reflect Indiana’s remarkable ethnic, racial and multi-cultural diversity,” Davis said. “ICELO’s investment in Allen County helps us take another step toward that important goal.”
