Angola Holiday On The Square

Holidays on the Square Kick Off

Angola is a town steeped in tradition and history. One such tradition is Santa’s arrival to town. Every year the Friday after Thanksgiving children line up for a chance to meet jolly old Saint Nick. As they pore over their wish list parents sneak a quick photo or two then they move on to do their holiday shopping. On Friday, November 29th starting at 6 pm the Go Angola Downtown Alliance and the City of Angola will once again celebrate Santa’s arrival. Santa will be lead by procession down North Wayne Street to the Monument in Downtown Angola. Once there he will proceed to light the Monument Christmas Tree with his magic dust. Children of all ages can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus along with Santa Paws and his Elves inside fitt4life in the Courthouse Quadrant from 6-8 pm while enjoying the music of the Headley Family Calliope. The Angola Masonic Lodge will provide hot chocolate and cookies. Members of the Angola High School Choir will be Caroling and Tuba Christmas will be entertaining.
People of all ages are invited to enjoy the free horse drawn wagon rides sponsored by local business owners. The rides will begin at 5 pm and run until 8 pm in the north east quadrant, people are welcome to wait inside the Pint & Slice while they wait for their wagon to leave.

Downtown Holiday Open Houses Celebrate Small Business Saturday

Go Angola Downtown Alliance and the local downtown business owners invite you to come experience all that downtown has to offer on Saturday November 30th. For the first time ever Angola downtown businesses will celebrate Small Business Saturday as a group by hosting their holiday open houses on the same day. Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize small brick and mortar stores and to step away from the computer and shop the little, local stores. Most businesses will have special discounts.
“Its a great way to help your community, not many people realize that for every $100 spent at a local store approximately $68 stays here in our community,” said Jorge Ruiz President of the Go Angola Downtown Alliance.
Open house hours will vary by store. For a complete list of participating retailers please visit or visit them on Facebook at
