122FW Exercise (UNCLASSIFIED)

Fort Wayne IAP, IN – The 122nd Fighter Wing would like to announce that the base will take part in an Active Shooter Exercise, Thursday, October 24, 2013.

The base will participate in the exercise with Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana State Police, and the City/County Communications Center.

The 122nd Security Forces have completed hundreds of hours of training for Active Shooter, to include training with multiple different agencies within and outside the regional area. They currently have two graduates of the USAF Active Shooter Instructor course. Prior to the existence of the course, the 122nd Fighter Wing created and implemented an Active Shooter response which leads the way for Indiana and Air National Guard standards. The program has since continually been evaluated and exercised by internal and external agencies. By doing so, the program is ever changing to ensure threats within these situations are eliminated.

122nd Security Forces Squadron¹s goal is to stabilize the incident and prevent the loss of life. The wing continuously puts the skills of its Airmen to the test to keep processes fresh and to ensure the Airmen are ready to respond to any real-world events.

The practice of such scenarios also enhances communication between the 122nd Fighter Wing, first responders and local government offices.

All media wishing to attend the event, please contact the 122nd Fighter Wing¹s Public Affairs Office as the security procedures are still in place. To attend you will be required to send your Name as it is on your Driver¹s License, Driver¹s License Number and State of Issue to
